Approvals

Approvals are off by default. MergeJudge never merges a PR directly.

yaml
approval:
  enabled: true
  mode: bot-approve            # or auto-merge-only
  human_approvers: { auto: 0, review: 1, block: 0 }
  bot_approve: { auto: true, review: false, block: false }
  • bot-approve: submits an APPROVE review in lanes allowed by bot_approve. For review and block it also needs human_approvers[lane] == 0. Run MergeJudge as its own GitHub App so the approval comes from a distinct identity; approvals by GITHUB_TOKEN may not count toward branch protection.
  • auto-merge-only: in the auto lane, turns on GitHub's native auto-merge, so GitHub merges once your required checks pass. Auto-merge must be allowed in repo settings.
  • Withdrawal: if a later push raises the lane, MergeJudge dismisses its own earlier approval.
  • human_approvers is shown in the comment as guidance. Enforce human counts with branch protection.
